Originally from the small rural community of Bedgerabong, in Central West New South Wales, Mitchell has worked in the counselling field for eighteen years.

Mitchell joined Alpha Counselling Services in January of 2002. Prior to that, he was Manager of one of Australia's largest counselling services assisting problem gamblers and their families.

Beginning in 1987, Mitchell is well known for his work in the problem gambling field as a counsellor, trainer and community educator. He has assisted more than three thousand problem gamblers and their families.

Mitchell currently assists people with a wide range of psychological issues including anxiety, depression, grief & loss, relationship problems, self esteem issues and addictions.

Mitchell offers an Holistic approach to counselling and structures his counselling to best meet the needs of each individual. He uses a number of approaches including Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Therapy and EMDR.

Mitchell works on behalf of a number of employee assistance programs providing counselling services to the staff of many of Australia's largest organizations. He is also Critical Incident Stress Management Team Leader for Ryde State Emergency Service.

Mitchell has an interest in all types of stress and regularly works with people experiencing workplace stress, critical incident stress and posttraumatic stress disorder. He also provides critical incident stress debriefing for individuals and organizations who have experienced a major trauma.

Mitchell has assisted people from many different backgrounds, and provides a service that is confidential, caring and non-judgmental.
